Chapter 2

Chapter 2: He's Scarily Handsome

Zhu Rong was woken the next day by a burst of urgent knocking at the door.

He yanked the blanket aside, walked to the door with his hair a tangled mess, and said, "Coming..."

When he opened it, Shen Zichen stood outside with a dark expression.

"Pulled another all-nighter gaming?"

"Mm..." Zhu Rong rubbed his face sheepishly. "It's the weekend, and I couldn't quite resist the urge to play, so I stayed up just a little later than usual."

"What time is 'a little later' for you?"

"Two thirty."

"..."

Shen Zichen could barely stop himself from smacking him.

"Hurry up and wash. Organic chemistry this morning." Shen Zichen shoved him into the bathroom, then walked into Zhu Rong's room alone.

The male dorms at A University were two-person suites, and Zhu Rong's dorm was no exception.

But his roommate had not shown up once from the start of the semester until now, a whole week. Zhu Rong did not even know his name, and he had received no notice about being assigned a new roommate.

That was fine, though.

One dorm fee, double the space and double the facilities.

Shen Zichen tidied the clothes scattered on the floor and casually packed the gaming gear left on the bed into its box.

Only after Zhu Rong finished washing up and got dressed did the two of them leave the dorm together.

As a top university in the Upper City District, A University's facilities were far more luxurious than those in the Main City District where Zhu Rong lived. Shen Zichen had reserved breakfast the night before, and he took hot milk and toast from the self-service window and handed them to him.

Zhu Rong was so moved he nearly burst into tears, sipping the milk in small mouthfuls.

"Shen Zichen, you're seriously a war god... with combat power like yours, you'd definitely be a fierce general in Dimensional Judgment."

"I'm not an internet-addicted teenager like you." Shen Zichen shot him a look of disgust. "Go to bed earlier at night. Your dark circles are as heavy as a panda's."

"Oh."

Zhu Rong always agreed quickly, but whether it actually entered his brain was another matter.

The two entered the teaching building together. The large lectures for the bioengineering department were usually scheduled on the first or second floor, so not having to squeeze into the elevator with a crowd early in the morning was truly a blessing.

By the time they sat down in the classroom, there were still about ten minutes before class.

Zhu Rong chewed his toast and listened to the guy in the row ahead chatting idly about gossip.

The guy's name was Xu Fan. He had a delicate, clean-cut look, but his personality was loud, and he was especially keen on digging up gossip.

He was said to be from the Upper City District, from a well-off family, and had been a little social butterfly since high school.

Now he not only gathered gossip from his own department but also accepted it wholesale from every other department.

Before every morning class, his spot was like an intelligence station, dedicated to releasing the freshest rumors.

"Hey." Xu Fan's expression was especially mysterious today. "Do you guys know which department the best-looking guy among this year's new students is in?"

"Tch, our department's little Rongbao, obviously."

Lu Huan grinned, showing a little tiger tooth, and hooked a finger under Zhu Rong's chin with a roguish air.

"Huan, you're a girl. Don't act like such a hooligan." Xu Fan shot her a sidelong glance. "It's not our little Rong. The real deal is someone else."

"There's someone even better?"

Lu Huan immediately leaned in.

"Spill. I need to know everything about this man within three minutes. He's actually better-looking than our little Rong?"

Zhu Rong finished a steamed bun, stuffed the plastic bag into his pocket, and actually felt a bit interested too, perking up his ears to listen to the two of them talk.

"From the Core Academy."

The mention of the Core Academy naturally drew a round of sighs.

A University had many majors, but they were broadly divided into core majors and regular majors. The core majors were mainly military and economics. Students in the core majors of a top university not only had excellent grades but also faced high requirements in background and every other aspect.

Correspondingly, upon graduation they could get the most elite offers in the Upper City District, and might even enter the pyramid's top alliance and soar from there.

Xu Fan swiped on his phone for a while, found a picture, and held it up in front of the group.

The man in the picture looked tall and thin, dressed all in black, with a sharply defined profile. He was too far away for his features to be seen clearly.

"His surname is said to be Pei. Insanely handsome."

"?"

Lu Huan's expression wrinkled like a bitter melon. "Was this photo taken by a door lock? My grandma could take a clearer picture than this blurry mess. Where's the professional standard?"

"Tch." Xu Fan frowned. "This guy's photos just can't be posted, understand? Not only is he handsome, he's also rich and powerful. Any forum post with his name in it gets taken down."

Lu Huan was stunned. "That big of a deal?"

"Of course."

Xu Fan clicked his tongue and lowered his voice.

"Some people say his father is one of this year's candidates for Upper City District governor."

Lu Huan smacked her lips. "So he's a noble young master of the governor's family."

Xu Fan waved a hand. "Not guaranteed to be true. Just listen for fun."

"But he really is handsome. I took a distant look from the second floor. He's not the same type of handsome as little Rongbao. Our little Rong is the enduring, gentle type. That guy, though..."

He mulled it over for a moment.

"Just plain handsome. No type."

Lu Huan thought he was exaggerating again, propped her chin on her hand, and looked at Zhu Rong. "What's your take, little Rongbao?"

"Hm?"

Suddenly called out, Zhu Rong looked dazed. "Me?"

"Do you think he's better-looking than you?" Lu Huan looked at him with a grin.

"That..."

Zhu Rong hesitated, then nodded.

"From the photo, he seems pretty handsome."

"?"

Lu Huan leaned closer to Xu Fan's phone screen and frowned.

"You can all see his face? Am I so sleep-deprived I've lost it? Why can't I see it?"

"I can't see it either." Zhu Rong spread his hands. "It's just a feeling..."

He thought for a moment.

"The vibe."

Lu Huan: "?"

"Very handsome." Zhu Rong nodded firmly. "The vibe around him seems to say one thing: he is terrifyingly handsome."

Lu Huan: "..."

What the hell.
