Chapter 10: One Tear From the Little Incubus, and Brother Jingzhe Razed a City
The Polar Light guild chat had been buzzing for most of the night.
[Polar Light] [Hete]: Help help help help help.
[Polar Light] [Hete]: Anyone want to save my sorry hide?
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: ?
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: Did you provoke the neighboring guild again?
[Polar Light] [Hete]: No, it's worse than that.
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: …
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: Just quit the guild already. The trouble you bring is ten thousand times bigger than the benefits.
[Polar Light] [Ziye]: What'd you do? Spill it so I can laugh.
[Polar Light] [Eve]: Details, please.
[Polar Light] [Yu Yuan]: 1.
[Polar Light] [Hete]: I'll keep it short. A few days ago Jingzhe told me that from the snowy mountain peak, if you use the airborne skill and instantly click a friend's avatar, you can bug your way into their cabin. I figured the only friend whose little incubus actually builds a cabin is Jingzhe, so I bugged my way into his private cabin… and ended up drilling through his floor, killing some plants, and collapsing half his bed.
[Polar Light] [Hete]: None of that's the point. The point is I made him cry…
Hete stood in front of the cabin, pacing anxiously.
What to do, what to do??
Jingzhe wouldn't put a bounty on him across the whole map, would he?
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: Isn't that little incubus Jingzhe's wife? Why the hell did you collapse their bed???
[Polar Light] [Ziye]: Hete collapsed Jingzhe's wife's bed?
[Polar Light] [Eve]: And made Jingzhe's wife cry?
[Polar Light] [Yu Yuan]: You should just delete your account before Jingzhe logs on. He loves tormenting people.
[Polar Light] [Ghost]: 1.
Hete looked shocked. "Holy shit, Ghost, you're actually alive? I thought you died from pulling all-nighters!"
No, that's not the point.
[Polar Light] [Hete]: I can compensate! Jingzhe's my bro—we registered together the day the server opened, black and white dragons born from the same root!
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: According to reliable intel, the little incubus charmed Jingzhe again yesterday. Jingzhe pinned him down in the ice dragon's birth cave and kissed him like they couldn't bear to be apart.
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: The scene was so lovey-dovey, so hot and heavy, so shameless that the ice mist grass within a hundred meters bloomed from the kissing.
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: With Jingzhe's bullheaded temper, if he really hated that little incubus he'd have kicked him ten meters away long ago. So the conclusion is—rest in peace, Brother Hete.
[Polar Light] [Ziye]: RIP.
[Polar Light] [Eve]: RIP.
[Polar Light] [Yu Yuan]: RIP.
[Polar Light] [Ghost]: RIP. By the way, if you're gonna die, can you give me that Voice of the Firmament in your inventory? o.O?
Hete: "…"
Not a single person cared whether he lived or died.
Every last person in Polar Light just wanted to watch the show.
Wanted to see what kind of brother-betraying, incubus-pleasing, utterly despicable thing Jingzhe would do.
The group chat had been quiet for less than ten seconds.
An ID with a red flash entered the chat.
[Polar Light] [Jingzhe]: ?
Holy shit!!!
The god of death is here!!
Hete instantly went invisible, sent Zhu Rong a five-hundred-word apology, and vanished from the cabin at light speed.
Pei Yujing had just logged on. First he saw the little red dot on his friend Rongrong's avatar.
The little incubus still knew to message him.
He clicked it open.
[Rongrong]: Thanks for the god-tier carry.
[Rongrong]: =⩌⩊⩌=
Pei Yujing: "…"
This stupid incubus, so shy after being kissed like that.
He thought about it all night, and this is what he came up with—a line that nearly made him choke?
Then he opened the Polar Light guild chat and saw a bunch of lunatics spamming nonsense.
Jingzhe scrolled up a few pages and nearly laughed from sheer anger.
Where did Hete even find this idiot?
He'd already said that stupid incubus treasures his plants. And this dumbass still had to poke the tiger.
Now that he'd made the guy cry, he logged off and played dead.
What was that supposed to mean?
Hete made him cry, so now he had to go comfort him?
Seriously? He'd just been played by that stupid incubus yesterday, and today he had to go comfort him.
Had to grind EXP, had to manage tempers.
Every so often he had to take a skill hit, get forcibly kissed by an incubus thanks to this trashy game setting, and on top of that get spied on by guildmates who apparently had nothing better to do.
Pei Yujing took a deep breath and started wondering if this game was really worth such a huge price.
By his calculations, conservatively, he'd sunk nearly eight figures of money into this game.
Money wasn't the issue. Time was.
If he wanted to level another account to Jingzhe's level, it'd take about three years, maybe more.
And Jingzhe was one of the earliest accounts from launch day. Getting a black dragon character now was as hard as reaching the heavens.
Pei Yujing calmed down.
He opened the Polar Light chat and sent:
[Polar Light] [Jingzhe]: You're dead meat, Hete.
The next second, a crowd sprouted like bamboo shoots after rain.
[Polar Light] [Dorothea]: My favorite furry-zone ship.
[Polar Light] [Ziye]: One tear from the little incubus, and Brother Jingzhe razes a city.
[Polar Light] [Eve]: Jingzhe, the husband-defending maniac.
[Polar Light] [Yu Yuan]: Grandpa, Grandma, your ship just dropped new food.
[Polar Light] [Ghost]: So sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet I'm gonna swipe my guildmate's insurance card and buy a hundred vials of insulin.
Jingzhe: "…"
A bunch of lunatics.
Luckily the teleport anchor on the map was still there. Jingzhe clicked the little heart in the corner of the map and instantly arrived at Zhu Rong's room.
The little incubus was wrapped in a blanket, curled up in a wooden lounge chair in the corner.
Who knew what he'd done during the day—he was so sleepy now he couldn't even keep his eyes open.
Jingzhe slowly approached and crouched down.
Two days ago during the weekly raid, Jingzhe had overheard Dorothea and Hete gossiping and happened to mention this little incubus.
They said his model was imported straight from the real world, then blended with some elements he liked, creating this white-haired, round-eyed, always-dazed dumb incubus.
Right now the little incubus's eye corners were still tinged red, faint teardrops clinging to his thick lashes.
He really had been bullied into crying.
Jingzhe ran his tongue over his fangs.
That bastard Hete—he really wanted to kill him.
