Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Which Part Offended You?

Fu Yan muttered under his breath, "You said the same thing before."

"What did you say?"

Fu Yan immediately straightened up and changed his tune. "I said Brother Wang here has the right idea. Women only slow down your blade."

Shen Wang didn't care.

He would never like a woman in this life, let alone fall for one.

Even if he were forced into marriage someday, he'd just find someone who didn't like him, do it once without feelings, produce an heir, and that would be the end of it.

Fu Yan curled his lips and lightly bumped his shoulder. "I got that girl's contact info. After seeing her Moments, I like her more and more. Wonder if I stand a chance."

Shen Wang slid one hand into his pocket and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. "What? You actually want to date this time?"

In the past, he'd just played around. Saw someone he liked, flirted, then moved on to the next.

"Seriously!"

"First time I've met a girl who suits my taste this well. I'm too shy to even message her."

His eyes sparkled, his face utterly smitten.

Shen Wang scoffed. "Pathetic."

"You're one to talk! So high and mighty!"

On his way out, he casually snapped a photo and sent it.

**Shen Yan**: [Going to school.]

Fu Yan caught the whole thing. "You never take photos. Were you just reporting in to that online girlfriend of yours?"

"Which eye of yours saw me reporting in? I was reminding her that I'm in class at school—don't message and disturb me."

The corner of Fu Yan's mouth twitched. Lately, Brother Wang wasn't just acting strange—his mouth was also especially stubborn.

Wen Nianqi, who received the message, had just fallen asleep and was jolted awake by the buzz.

Her eyes were bleary, and she didn't even check the contact name before firing back rudely.

**Kitten**: "I just fell asleep!"

Seeing it was a voice message, Shen Wang quickened his pace, shook off Fu Yan, and only then opened it and held it to his ear.

The girl's voice was soft and light, tinged with annoyance, yet it sounded sweet.

Shen Wang curled his lips and replied with a voice message of his own. "Tsk. Serves you right. Who told you not to put your phone on silent?"

The message spun for a few seconds—then a red exclamation mark popped up!

Damn it!

Wen Nianqi had blocked him!

Shen Wang's face fell. He stared coldly at the phone screen.

Through gritted teeth: "Wen Nianqi, you really are something. Just wait till you wake up—see how I deal with you."

On the other side, Wen Nianqi had no idea.

She slept straight through to dawn, a perfect night's rest.

After a whole morning of classes, she only realized something was off at lunch when she was about to report in.

She hadn't reported in all morning. Why hadn't *that person* come looking for her?

She scrolled through the chat interface over and over but couldn't find Shen Wang.

"Holy crap, did this guy delete me?"

Then she thought again.

No, that's not right. Even if he deleted her, the chat box would still be there on her end.

Wen Nianqi was dizzy with joy. "If he deleted me, does that mean we broke up? And if we've broken up, does that mean I don't have to pay the money back!"

She bounced up from her seat in the dorm.

"Yes!"

"Wen Nianqi has money again!"

...

Switzerland.

Fu Yan got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and caught sight of Shen Wang sitting on the balcony with a face like thunder.

He had no idea what was wrong.

All day, Brother Wang had been like he'd swallowed gunpowder. At night, during their game, he'd chewed Fu Yan out for stepping out of the fountain with his left foot.

Fu Yan felt wronged!

"B-Brother Wang, it's the middle of the night. You're still not sleeping?"

Shen Wang exhaled deeply, closed his eyes, and asked, "If your woman blocked you, what would you do?"

"Huh?" Fu Yan said. "My women are all bought with money. If they dare block me, they're daring to block their sugar daddy. If it were me, I'd march right up to her and make her pay it back!"

Then he tentatively added, "What? Did Kitten block you?"

Shen Wang said nothing. Furiously, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number. It rang about five seconds before the other end picked up.

"Hello?"

At the sound of her cheerful voice, the anger in his chest erupted.

He bit out each word: "Wen Nianqi, are you fucking asking to die!"

It was an unknown number. Wen Nianqi asked, "Shen... Yan?"

Shen Wang laughed in fury. "What? Got seduced by some guy out there? Can't even recognize my voice, and you blocked me?"

"Cat got your tongue? Don't make me curse you out."

"Who the hell are you keeping company?"

"Wen Nianqi, don't make me fly back right now and end you!"

Wen Nianqi froze in fright. Clutching her phone, she scrambled to a deserted corner.

"I blocked you?"

Shen Wang said nothing. His fingertips flicked, and the metal lighter snapped open.

A crisp click cut through the silence.

He was angry!

That was Wen Nianqi's first thought.

She grabbed a fistful of her hair, desperately trying to remember when exactly she'd blocked Shen Wang.

Then it hit her—last night, half-asleep, her memory hazy. She vaguely remembered touching a red button.

Don't tell me it was then...

"Let me explain, how could I dare block you? Last night when you messaged me I was dead asleep. I didn't see clearly that it was you. If I'd known it was your message, I never would've blocked you!"

"Baby, I was wrong. I really didn't mean to."

Wen Nianqi pitched her voice high, calling him "baby" over and over, playing the devoted girlfriend.

Hoping for the big shot's mercy.

Shen Wang glanced at Fu Yan, who was standing nearby enjoying the show. "How long are you going to listen? Get lost!"

Fu Yan practically sprouted oil under his feet and bolted back to his room.

Wen Nianqi heard that.

Telling her to get lost?

There was such a good thing?

Wen Nianqi said cheerfully, "I'll get lost right away."

Shen Wang took a drag of his cigarette and slowly exhaled. "I didn't tell you to get lost."

Wen Nianqi said pitifully, "Oh."

"What? You blocked me and now you're the one feeling wronged? Skin itching for a beating?"

Wen Nianqi's brain spun fast. "I blocked you and you didn't even ask why. You waited a whole day just to come interrogate me, and now you want to beat me to death..."

"You were the one who woke me up first. Even if I did block you on purpose, you were in the wrong first. Don't think I don't know—you play games with girls at night. Every time you talk to me, you're so mean..."

"Have you ever even treated me like your girlfriend..."

Two or three sentences, and she'd dumped the whole blame on him.

When she finished, Wen Nianqi admired herself. She really had a talent for soothing her sugar daddy—she was too good at acting cute.

She'd deliberately softened her voice just now. No man could resist that.

Shen Wang froze for a moment, tapping his knuckle against the cigarette.

His brows furrowed slightly. He didn't like smoking—only took a couple puffs when he was angry or stressed. It was choking.

Her last words echoed in Shen Wang's mind for a long time.

"Wen Nianqi, you've got more and more bullshit lately."

Wen Nianqi crouched down, on the verge of tears from grievance. "It's true. Every time we call, you scold me, scold me, scold me..."

"And you never listen to my explanations..."

Shen Wang sighed helplessly. "I never said I wouldn't listen to your explanation."
