Chapter 9: You Have a Home in Jiangzhou?
"Let her come. Next Monday, have her report to Fu Corporation."
Su Mingyuan's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Mm."
Fu Linzhou stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
"But let me be clear—this is just for experience."
"And I won't change my decision about the Su Family because of her."
"Understood, understood." Su Mingyuan nodded hurriedly, but inwardly he let out a breath of relief.
As long as Sisi could get close to Fu Linzhou, there'd be a chance.
They'd been together back then, and they could be again now.
Fu Linzhou looked at the city outside the window, his voice cold. "Uncle Su, is there anything else?"
"No, no." Su Mingyuan rose to his feet.
"I'll be going then. I'll have Sisi come report on Monday."
He walked to the door, then turned back to glance at Fu Linzhou.
The young man stood by the window, tall and straight like an unsheathed blade—cold, sharp, unapproachable.
Su Mingyuan thought of his own coldness back then, and suddenly felt a deep pang of regret.
Retribution.
He sighed and pushed the door open.
In the office, Fu Linzhou still stood by the window.
He watched below as Su Mingyuan walked out of the building and got into his car.
Su Qingsi was coming to Fu Corporation. She was coming to his side.
Fu Linzhou remembered her lying in bed that day—innocent and bewildered, tears on the verge of falling, and that snow-white skin that seemed like it would melt into his palm.
He rubbed his fingers together, somewhat savoring the feel of that moment.
If it were three years ago, he could have touched her openly, even kissed her.
But now, everything had changed.
Fu Linzhou pushed aside those inappropriate thoughts and told himself that letting Su Qingsi come was only out of respect for Uncle Su—just for experience.
He wouldn't do anything to her. He already had Yirou.
Yirou was so good, so genuine to him. He couldn't let her down.
When the time was right, he'd tell Yirou that the fake contract was void.
He wanted her to truly become his girlfriend.
——
Monday morning, Fu Corporation.
Su Qingsi stood in front of the Fu Corporation building, then followed the flow of people through the revolving door and went inside.
Today she wore a light purple dress that revealed her slender, fair calves.
Over it was a thin cream-colored trench coat, cinched at the waist with a thin belt that emphasized her impossibly narrow waist.
She looked like a freshly bloomed wisteria flower—delicate, pure, with a touch of unconscious allure.
The receptionist, Qiao Ruolin, looked up. Her gaze landed on Su Qingsi's face, and she froze for a few seconds before coming back to herself.
She'd worked in this building for three years and had seen countless beauties.
Seductive ones, pure ones, elegant ones—all kinds.
But this one was different.
"Hello." Qiao Ruolin stood up, her voice unconsciously softening.
"Do you have an appointment?"
Su Qingsi looked over. "I'm here to see Fu Linzhou."
Calling him by his full name.
Qiao Ruolin's heart skipped a beat. There were few people in all of Jingcheng who dared to call President Fu by his full name.
Qiao Ruolin dialed the internal line. "One moment, please. May I ask your name?"
"Su Qingsi."
The line was silent for two seconds before the assistant Cheng Yu's voice came through: "Please send Miss Su up. President Fu is in a meeting—have her wait in the reception room."
In the reception room.
Su Qingsi sat on the sofa, legs together, hands resting on her knees.
She didn't play with her phone—just sat quietly like a traditional ink painting.
The door was pushed open.
Cheng Yu walked in, documents in hand. "Miss Su, President Fu is still in a meeting. You may need to wait a while."
"Okay." Su Qingsi nodded, her voice soft and sweet.
Cheng Yu stole an extra glance.
He'd long heard that the eldest daughter of the Su Family was stunningly beautiful. Seeing her today, the reputation was well deserved.
No wonder President Fu had made an exception and agreed to President Su's request.
"Would you like something to drink?" he asked.
"Warm water is fine, thank you."
Cheng Yu left, gently closing the door behind him.
Su Qingsi leaned back on the sofa, her gaze on the cityscape outside the window—towering buildings, endless streams of traffic.
Fu Corporation's location was excellent, overlooking half of Jingcheng.
She asked in her mind, "System, will Wen Yirou come today?"
"Yes," the System's voice rang out.
"She made four dishes and a soup. She's on her way now, wanting to give Fu Linzhou a surprise."
Su Qingsi's lips curved slightly.
Surprise?
More like a shock, surely.
——
Two hours later.
After the meeting, Fu Linzhou tugged at his tie and headed toward the reception room.
Cheng Yu followed behind. "President Fu, Miss Su has arrived. She's been waiting two hours."
Fu Linzhou's steps paused. She'd been sitting there waiting for two hours?
He pushed the door open.
Su Qingsi looked up. When she saw him, her eyes curved into crescents, with a hint of ingratiation. "You're done with your meeting?"
Even when a beauty deliberately tries to please, one can't tell at all.
Just an ordinary sentence, curved eyes—yet soft and alluring.
Fu Linzhou stared at her. "Been waiting long?"
"Not long." Su Qingsi stood up.
"I just got here."
Lying.
Cheng Yu said she'd waited two hours.
Fu Linzhou didn't call her out on it. He walked up to her.
The distance between them closed instantly, his tall figure enveloping her.
Su Qingsi tilted her face up to look at him, lashes fluttering, a little nervous—as if asking: What are you going to do?
Fu Linzhou rubbed his thumb and middle finger together, then pinched her cheek, wanting to test if it still felt like that day.
"Sit." He said, walking over to the main seat on the sofa first and sitting down, long legs crossed.
Su Qingsi sat as told, hands on her knees, posture obedient.
"I'm sure your father has told you everything." Fu Linzhou's gaze fell on her face.
That face was small—no bigger than his palm. Now slightly lowered, it seemed especially docile.
She must know the Su Family's situation by now and wouldn't dare act out in front of him.
"Stick by my side, be my secretary, learn a few things. It'll help you in the Su Corporation later."
Su Qingsi lifted her head, looking at him with clear eyes. "Mm, Dad told me. Thank you for the trouble, President Fu."
Fu Linzhou shifted his gaze away. "At the company, you're my personal secretary, directly under me."
"Cheng Yu will walk you through the basics. If there's anything you don't understand, ask him first."
"Okay." Su Qingsi agreed.
Then she asked quietly, "So what do I need to do?"
Fu Linzhou turned his gaze back to her.
She asked earnestly, a hint of first-day nervousness in her eyes.
"Pour tea, organize documents, arrange schedules." Fu Linzhou's tone was flat.
"Whatever I tell you to do, you do."
Su Qingsi nodded, indicating she'd remember.
