Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Does That Make You Happy?

Recently, Lin Yan had noticed a subtle shift in the big villain's attitude toward him.

For one thing, he'd become very concerned about his health.

The big villain was teaching himself ancient Blue Star medicine, gnawing through thick old tomes, taking Lin Yan's pulse at every opportunity, then knitting his brows tight.

Lin Yan's heart nearly jumped out of his chest. "What is it? Am I not long for this world?"

Kaspa smoothed his brow, inwardly cursing himself for letting his feelings show on his face, and said with utmost respect, "No. Lord Husband's body is very healthy."

Lin Yan: "Then why do you keep taking my pulse?"

Kaspa's eyes flickered.

A moment later, he swallowed hard, somewhat embarrassed, and a blush crept across cheeks pale as frost and snow. "Zerg eggs are severely lacking in male Zerg essence during the first three months."

"You haven't given me male Zerg essence in a long time. I can only resort to this lowly method..."

Perhaps because it was too shameful for a female Zerg to ask a male Zerg for male Zerg essence, his voice grew softer the more he spoke, until it was barely a whisper.

Lin Yan was struck dumb.

He was a straight man. There was no way he could go any further with Kaspa.

And though the wound on his wrist had already healed, it now throbbed faintly with a dull ache. He couldn't bring himself to keep cutting so deeply.

So Lin Yan raised no objection. If holding wrists could produce male Zerg essence, then he was willing to compromise. "Go ahead and keep taking my pulse."

"It might delay your work."

"I don't have any real work anyway," Lin Yan said dejectedly. He hadn't found a job, hadn't learned to cook pregnancy meals—practically useless. "Anyway, if it helps you and the child, that's great."

Kaspa lowered his head and voiced his assent.

Fingertips pressed against skin, the pulse he touched was strong and vigorous.

Clearly, His Excellency the male Zerg was in excellent health.

Kaspa felt somewhat disappointed, but not sad. Perhaps he simply hadn't yet mastered the art on his own—that was why he couldn't detect the true cause of His Excellency's madness, nor figure out how to make the male Zerg even madder...

He decided to burn the midnight oil studying tonight.

The scene of the two Zerg acting intimately and conversing happily was witnessed by the chief servant, who felt a warm glow of satisfaction, happily envisioning a future where he'd help take care of Lin Yan and Kaspa's child. He said to the head chef, "This is the first time Lord Lin Yan has treated a female Zerg so well."

Through the chief servant's eight-hundred-meter-thick filter of tolerance toward the male Zerg, he had already tossed aside all memory of Lin Yan making Kaspa kneel as punishment, or personally administering poison (not).

The head chef muttered, "It's not exactly the first time, is it."

The chief servant choked. "?"

The head chef: "Have you forgotten Xiyi? Back then, His Excellency was like a man possessed, following him around, not even caring that he had a Lord Husband."

He remembered that when His Excellency the male Zerg was at his most obsessed, he messaged Xiyi every day: [Have you come clean with my mortal enemy yet?]

[Zerg New Year is almost here. When is it my turn?]

[Are you really planning to spend the rest of your life with my mortal enemy?]

[I thought about what you asked me last time—about being the third party. I'm willing.]

[Oh right, I ordered you milk tea... Oh, are you doing it with my mortal enemy right now? Fine, I'll order you two cups.]

What biting words.

The chief servant, who had already become the number one fan of the Lin Yan × Kaspa ship, gave the head chef a sugar-roasted chestnut and retorted, "His Excellency doesn't love Xiyi anymore. He's seen the light and plans to live properly with the Admiral. Can't you tell?"

The head chef muttered again, "Loving Xiyi and living properly don't necessarily conflict."

Speak of the devil.

Just as the chief servant and head chef reached this point in their conversation, Lin Yan's light-brain buzzed with a vibration.

It was a message notification.

Kaspa was a villain with a strong sense of boundaries. He said politely, "Lord Husband, do you need me to step aside?"

He didn't know a single Zerg in the Zerg race anyway—of course he didn't need to step aside.

Lin Yan slung an arm around his neck like a bro. "No need."

Then he opened his light-brain, and there it was—a live image of an injured female Zerg.

A bloody gash stretched across the abdomen.

But it was very calculated.

Opening the live image, one could hear the female Zerg's stifled gasps of pain, like little hooks.

Following the live image was Xiyi's passive-aggressive text: [Bro, I know you don't want to come use me. It's definitely not because you're worried about money—you must have your own difficulties. I understand.]

[But it hurts so much.]

[Can you let me see you, bro.]

Lin Yan: "..."

Lin Yan immediately shut off his light-brain. As the screen went dark, he happened to meet Kaspa's unreadable gaze through the reflection.

Instantly, his scalp went numb.

No, bro!

He'd barely managed to smooth things over with the big villain!

Why did this stuff have to come up now of all times!

Did this guy just not want him to live?

He was about to develop a desire to exterminate Zerg.

Lin Yan's emotional intelligence was flashing red. He couldn't find a suitable excuse at all, and gave an awkward laugh. "What's he jabbering about? How come nothing happens when I copy it into Pinduoduo?"

Kaspa had good eyesight and a good memory. "He said he hopes you'll go see him. Go use him."

Lin Yan: "..."

The last shred of hope in his heart was like a fully inflated balloon, punctured by Kaspa until it was in tatters.

So he really did see it.

Now what.

Fortunately, Lin Yan was no longer the Lin Yan who'd just transmigrated. He'd become proficient at handling crises. "I'm not close to him at all. There's nothing between us."

To prove his sincerity, Lin Yan typed in front of Kaspa:

[I'm not coming because I don't want to use you. Don't try to understand me—I don't have any difficulties.]

Then he looked up to observe Kaspa's expression.

And Kaspa.

Had no expression.

Even if the mad male Zerg was indeed gentle to the extreme, giving him the illusion of being cherished, he would never delude himself into thinking he could monopolize a male Zerg's male Zerg essence.

The ratio of female Zerg to male Zerg could be as high as 1000:1.

All female Zerg, upon reaching adulthood, their spirit sea state would begin to decline.

Monopolizing a male Zerg was pushing the other 999 female Zerg to their deaths.

That was immoral.

It was also unrealistic. Male Zerg were always fickle, easily tempted.

Moreover, a male Zerg having more female Zerg wasn't without benefits.

At least in terms of punishment—a male Zerg couldn't punish many female Zerg at once, so there would always be breathing room for everyone.

The pros and cons of taking female attendants cycled through Kaspa's mind. He gently offered a suggestion:

"Whether you want to use him or not is entirely up to you. If you want to try, then try. No need to consider my feelings."

Kaspa's magnanimous speech, heard by Lin Yan, was translated into: "Although I say on the surface that you can use him or not, if you actually dare to use him, I'll make you try and die."

He wasn't stupid.

He'd never had a girlfriend, but all his friends had.

He could still pick up on such obvious subtext.

Besides, the one in front of him wasn't even his girlfriend—it was the novel's big villain. Saying "don't mind my feelings"—who would believe that?

Who would dare try!

He wasn't a cat with nine lives!

Lin Yan swore to the heavens: "I definitely won't see him. Don't worry, I'll delete him right now."

Lin Yan deleted the friend in front of Kaspa.

...

On the other side, Xiyi was drenched in cold sweat, enduring the pain of his abdominal wound, staring at the chat window the whole time, waiting for Lin Yan's comfort.

But what came was Lin Yan's "no difficulties."

Helpless, Xiyi sent another round of passive-aggressive text:

[Is Admiral Kaspa jealous? I'm very sorry. My existence has offended his eyes and put you in a difficult position.]

But.

The bright red exclamation mark on the screen was glaringly conspicuous, piercing through his self-deception—

Obviously, that previous message was the male Zerg's heartfelt words.

Not forced by any Zerg.
