Chapter 6: Mangosteen

Twisted love?

Heaven and earth bear witness!

Lu Yiyan really wasn't interested in twisted love!

He waved his hands repeatedly, about to speak, when laughter broke out behind him.

Then came the mockery: "Puppy Yan, here to lick Young Master Si again?"

"Fast enough."

A few men strolled up, lazily positioning themselves behind Si Lin, smiling at Lu Yiyan, provoking him the way you'd tease a dog: "Here, boy. Tsk tsk tsk."

These men were all heirs of wealthy families, on good terms with Si Lin, and well aware of Lu Yiyan's history of clinging to him.

Si Lin had been abroad for years and they hadn't been able to reach him. Now was the perfect chance to cozy up to Si Lin by stepping on Lu Yiyan.

Lu Yiyan pressed his lips tight.

Seeing this, the men laughed: "What, gonna cry again?"

Lu Yiyan hadn't planned on crying, but hearing that, his nose stung instantly.

"Haha," the men chuckled. "I'm serious. Why don't you take a piss and look at yourself in the mirror?"

"An illegitimate son of the Lu family, and you want to drag Young Master Si into it?"

"You're just a sewer rat who'll never see the light of day, understand?"

Lu Yiyan said nothing. One of the men reached out and shoved him. "Talking to you. You deaf?"

Lu Yiyan staggered half a step, sniffed hard, and bean-sized tears instantly fell.

His expression was pitiful, but when he opened his mouth, he was utterly self-righteous. He shoved back: "So what if I'm an illegitimate son?"

"My dad's the one who couldn't keep it in his pants. Go yell at him. Why yell at me?" Lu Yiyan wiped his tears furiously, but couldn't get them clean, so he gave up trying.

With two pools of tears in his eyes, he spoke with absolute conviction: "Also, you guys came at the right time."

"I, Lu Yiyan, am drawing a clear line with Si Lin today!" he declared. "I will never, ever cling to him again!"

"You—" Lu Yiyan pointed at them. "All of you are witnesses."

The moment the words left his mouth, everyone present froze.

It was as if Lu Yiyan had spoken some obscure dialect. The men exchanged glances, clearly stunned.

Lu Yiyan said he wouldn't cling to Brother Lin anymore?

What did that mean?

They stared at Lu Yiyan.

What kind of move was this?

Retreating to advance?

"No, wait," the guy with the earring paused, looking slightly confused. "Are you okay?"

The man beside him caught on too, laughing. "If you can go three days without looking for Brother Lin, I'll count it as your win."

"Three days?" Another joined in. "I say he won't last one."

"......"

The men went back and forth, but only Si Lin stayed silent, quietly watching him.

Lu Yiyan couldn't be bothered to argue and turned to leave.

Just as he lifted his foot, he met the gaze of the couple in front of him.

They were a classic old-husband-young-wife pair. The man was nearly bald, looking to be in his forties or fifties.

But the woman beside him looked young enough to have just graduated college, with charming wavy curls.

"Mingyang," the couple walked over, and the woman called out.

The guy with the earring, so arrogant a moment ago, instantly turned docile. "Mom."

The woman nodded, pulling her bald old boy along to stand before Lu Yiyan. "Hello there."

Lu Yiyan blinked. "Hello?"

The woman was delighted, tugging her husband. "Honey, this is the Lu Yiyan I told you about."

"I watched his livestream yesterday. His fortune-telling is incredibly accurate."

Hearing this, the bald old boy looked Lu Yiyan up and down, clearly unimpressed.

Lu Yiyan, accurate at fortune-telling?

Who didn't know about the second young master of the Lu family? A hidden illegitimate son, a textbook waste.

His wife didn't know the dirty laundry of wealthy families, but did he?

And what was real in the entertainment industry? Probably just a livestream script to promote Lu Yiyan.

But if his wife wanted a reading, he'd indulge her.

"Lu Yiyan," the bald old boy adopted the attitude of an absolute superior and issued a direct order. "Give your auntie a reading."

The woman beamed at Lu Yiyan, clearly thrilled.

Lu Yiyan seemed not to catch the disdain in the man's tone. He turned to the woman. "What would you like to ask?"

"Just do whatever," the bald old boy cut in.

He rather disliked Lu Yiyan, and turned to coax his wife. "Let's just play around with it. If you really want a proper reading, I'll take you to Southeast Asia tomorrow to find a real master."

The woman shook her head, acting cute. "I want Little Yan to read for me."

"Okay, okay, okay," the man agreed immediately with a smile, then looked at Lu Yiyan, warning him. "Don't you dare talk nonsense, got it?"

Lu Yiyan raised an eyebrow, slightly displeased.

He was silent for half a second, then lifted his chin and threw a small tantrum. "The fee is ten thousand. WeChat or Alipay?"

The guy with the earring cut in. "You said two thousand on the show."

Lu Yiyan nodded. "Yes. But today I'm giving you a discount. The fee is ten thousand."

?

What kind of discount was that? From two thousand up to ten thousand?

But the woman didn't mind at all. She smiled and agreed. "Sure. But I don't have any loose change on me right now."

Lu Yiyan smiled. "Hmm, then there's no wa—"

Loose change?

Ten thousand is loose change?

????

"Mingyang," the woman called. "Pay for Mom."

Mingyang scowled. "Mom, I don't have much loose change either."

"I've only got a few hundred thousand left. Once it's gone I have to go through the company accounts. Such a hassle."

?

Lu Yiyan looked at him.

Only?? A few hundred thousand???

Do you rich people have your own currency system?

Lu Yiyan suddenly felt he'd asked for too little.

The woman covered her mouth and laughed.

The bald old boy kicked Mingyang. "When she tells you to pay, you pay!"

Mingyang clutched his butt, reluctantly pulled out his phone, and scanned ten thousand over to Lu Yiyan.

Then he glared viciously and hissed a threat: "You'd better get this right! You pocket-money-scamming man!"

Lu Yiyan glared back. "Say that again. See if I don't scam you out of every last cent."

Mingyang: "......"

Damn it!

Mingyang gritted his teeth. "You pocket-money-scamming, back-talking man!"

Lu Yiyan snorted and ignored him, turning to the woman. "Do you have your birth date and time?"

The woman nodded. "Yes."

Lu Yiyan opened an app and handed her his phone. "Input it here."

The internet made charting easy. The moment she finished entering her birth year, month, and day, the BaZi chart appeared.

Lu Yiyan looked at it and raised an eyebrow.

He hadn't expected the woman to be over forty. Truly impossible to tell.

He'd assumed she and the bald old boy were a second marriage, but they were original spouses—and destined partners at that.

The Day Stem generated mutual harmony, the Officer Star was prosperous in the Husband Palace, in harmony with the Day Master. Her husband truly doted on her; it wasn't an act. Add the Wealth Star generating the Officer Star, and she'd never want for food or clothing her whole life.

Maybe it was the worry-free life, the husband's love, never having to fret over making a living—that kept her looking so young, her eyes clear and innocent, always smiling.

What a pity.

An early death.

Lu Yiyan looked up, studied the husband's face, and let out a soft breath.

He hadn't expected the man to be such a romantic.

After his wife died, he sank into depression and ultimately took his own life.

Ambitious, reliable, devoted—men like that were rare.

Lu Yiyan said, "Madam, congratulations."

The woman looked surprised. "What for?"

"You're expecting."

The woman's eyes went wide, the joy impossible to hide.

She took her husband's hand and shook it gently, coquettish. "Honey, he says I'm pregnant."

The man seemed pleased too, looking at Lu Yiyan. "Really?"

Lu Yiyan nodded. "Yes. Just conceived. In a week you can go to the hospital for a blood test."

At that, the man's expression shifted instantly, his gaze toward Lu Yiyan full of displeasure.

A blood test in a week?

In a week, this whole thing would be over. He wouldn't be able to find the guy again, let alone hold him accountable.

This fraudster really knew how to talk!

A total charlatan! He knew this kid couldn't be trusted!
